Understanding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Sustainable Cities: Sustainable Development Goal 11 (of the 17 goals) is:

“Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”

StoryTrek’s tours around the theme of “Sustainable Cities” will give us an understanding of these concerns: a sense of the environment in which we live, an engagement with keeping it safe, resilient, clean, comfortable and aesthetic. The tours will include geography, anthropology, linguistics, culture, history, economy. They are customized for different ages, professions interest, and can also be designed according to the duration that you choose. All the tours are especially made suitable for high school or college students, including professional colleges. The itinerary is different for students and other groups consisting of professionals or just tourists interested in the theme, who would like their trips be to be more than sight- seeing.

Just now we are offering the tours indicated here. More are in the pipeline. The costs indicated include tickets, travel, bed and breakfast, the tours, local transport, lectures and resource persons , guides, institutional collaboration. For high school groups, all meals are included within the same cost. Accommodation for the student groups may be in hostels on some places. Our staff will accompany them during the tours.

Groups who wish to sign on should have a minimum number of 8 person. The maximum number for a tour is 40 persons. If there are more, another tour group can be arranged, either with a change in date or a different city/country. All the tours will focus on the city but will include trips to the outskirts and beyond, to include the suburbs and rural hinterland.

Preparations

For each tour StoryTrek will

  • Provide end-to-end support
  • Prepare the traveler in terms background study, etc.
  • Provide detailed travel advisories with regard to weather and clothing, information about lodging, roads, transport etc.
  • Provide accompanying storytellers/guides.
  • Work with local partners: institutions and local organisations which will provide information, and expertise.
